About us
Welcome to Tabb & Tannin.
My name is Mitch, and I'm the maker behind this small workshop based in Adelaide, South Australia.
Tabb & Tannin was born from a lifelong appreciation for leather and a passion for creating things by hand. Growing up riding and competing horses professionally, leather was something I was surrounded by every day. I learned early that well-made leather goods aren't just beautiful—they have to perform. A quality saddle or bridle isn't judged by how it looks on day one, but by how it stands up to years of hard work, proper care, and everyday use. That appreciation has stayed with me ever since.
Today, alongside my full-time career in the military, leathercraft has become a way to slow down and create something with purpose. The discipline, patience, and attention to detail that both worlds demand naturally find their way into every piece I make.
Every leather journal cover and accessory is handcrafted from start to finish using traditional hand-stitching techniques. I work with durable, small-batch materials sourced locally wherever possible, carefully selecting each hide and component for its quality, character, and longevity. Every cut, stitch, and edge is completed by hand, allowing me to focus on the details that make each piece both beautiful and built to last.
The name Tabb & Tannin reflects what matters most to me: thoughtful craftsmanship and quality materials. Tannin is at the heart of vegetable-tanned leather—a timeless material that develops a rich patina with use—and every item that leaves my workshop is made with the intention that it will be carried, used, and appreciated for years to come.
I believe the best leather goods aren't the ones that stay tucked away on a shelf. They're the ones that travel with you, collect scratches, soften with age, and tell your story. Rather than wearing out, they wear in, becoming more personal with every adventure, every notebook filled, and every memory made.
Thank you for supporting handmade craftsmanship and choosing to invest in something made with patience, purpose, and care. I hope your Tabb & Tannin piece becomes a trusted companion for many years to come.
